This led to record company interest, but the band resisted singing a contract. Finally, in 2005 they signed to the independent label Domino Records and released their first single, "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor." |
| Their first album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not became the fastest selling debut album ever in the UK when it was released in 2006. About a month later, it was released in the US and opened at #24 on the album chart, one of the best debuts ever by a band on an independent record label.
